2009: InJuCo reloaded

Performers of the comedy night: Vicky, Julian, Estas, Pierrick, Pamela, MayaMandala, Julian, Deglan (background) Inspired by the incredible ammount of talented artists - who choose to spend the winter in magic India - and by the beauty of the European Juggling Conventions (EJC), the idea was born to create a convention right here in Goa.

2008 was the initial one - then called the "Body Arts Convention".
2009 was "InJuCo reloaded" - a full success with 2.500, mostly international visitors. About 10% of them came to Goa exclusively for this convention and we feel extremely blessed for that.

A total of 6 days, from 10am till 10pm, blue skies, direct beach access and lots of laughter.

With the help of magical volunteers, tutors, artists and in cooperation with the GOASIS/ART UNISON crew we managed to turn this into one of two festival highlights of the Goan season 2008/09.

Project I (2008) - local

Body Arts Convention 2008 - the first InJuCo We donated the full proceedings of the convention 2008 - the sum of INR 10.000 - to a school for travelling children in Arpora, initiated by the Lions Club International/ Arpora.

We understand that education is the key element to curb child labor, (sexual) abuse and to provide children with a future.

Hundreds of seasonal workers flock to Goa from Karnataka every year and their children hardly speak the local language. Thus they do not attend school  during these months. In this project, children are getting the opportunity for schooling in their native language, instead of just idling whilst their parents are at work.

Some of the InJuCo team also initiated other community projects and in addition we would like to see locals getting involved at the convention - as we want to do much more for the local community than just to donate money and to frequent their beaches.

This year we invited local schools (like the Moving School Project) and others to a full day of free tuition, food and shows for these children.

Project II (2009) - sustainability

InJuCo 2009 - the flyer

So far the event has been fully sponsored by its founder, Tom Heine.

However - in order to make this a sustainable event, this time we decided to collect the proceedings as we believe that this convention is too precious to depend on the fate of a single man.

The InJuCo (at this point) has no other sponsors than its organizers, volunteers, artists and visitors.

Project III (2010?) - local & inter/national

Beyond all this we try to follow the inter/national call for a meeting ground for artists and persue a project to set up an inter/national artist village, during the months of October to March. The mild climate, the inspiring surroundings and the fact that Goa is currently developing into "the showcase of India to the world" would make Arambol the perfect place for this.

The project will be named Creative Commons Community Project and we will keep you updated on it.
